Here are a few of the tools we couldn't live without (unless otherwise noted the tools are Windows-only).
SnagIt for screen captures
We long ago discovered that an image is worth way more than a thousand words -- especially when you're discussing how a web site looks on your specific computer. Get SnagIt, and you'll be able to take a snapshot of the area being discussed and email it to us, saving both of us from trying to describe pixel-alignment and color shifting in words.

Inspiration for site outlines
Sure, you can outline your site structure just fine in Word or one of the many other tools that you already have, but they often make outlining more difficult than it needs to be and also don't print out those nice little "org" style charts. We like Inspiration, a nifty little outliner designed for students.
Ulead Photo Explorer for photo browsing
So once you've taken all those digital photos you want to use on the web site, how do you figure out which oddly-named file is the one you want to send to us? We recommend using Ulead Photo Explorer for a visual view of your files.
TextPad for HTML
TextPad is a handy text editor that works great for editing HTML web pages as well as regular text files (anything that you could open in notepad, for example). We particularly like the way textpad opens quickly and doesn't chew up an unreasonable amount of system resources.
RoboPDF
RoboPDF is a handy alternative to Adobe's Acrobat for creating PDF files. Works especially well for Microsoft Office documents.
