This was done for an invitation to a one-year anniversary party for a motorsports company.
 
When used with discretion, GIF and Flash animations can help you highlight new products, explain important concepts or just add a little life to an otherwise static page.

Animation can also be an effective branding tool when used to call attention to your logo or product/service names. Animation is also great for showing actions that can't be adequately conveyed in a flat/static picture.

3D images are great for adding a feeling of depth to a very one-dimensional medium, and are especially good when showing products or displaying how something might be used.

Particle emitters work great for firing logo bugs at the camera (as in this example done in Cinema 4DXL7):

Click here to see the power of Flash ActionScript demonstrated by a simple example created with Adobe LiveMotion. With the help of a random number generator, three objects have basic properties such as location, rotation, size and opacity programatically animated over time. For example, this code snippet sets the opacity of the object to a random value between 0 and 100. This style of animation would be difficult to accomplish using standard frame-based animation techniques.
